I just published a getting started guide that has some more detail about the main items for the game:

Curious to hear if you find it useful, more confusing, or even incorrect.

I think it's a good starter guide. Not too in depth as to scare a new player away, but gives good basic information.

I like the "guide" overall, especially the parts about the game stages. The only thing that comes to mind is if you had a link to the video portion of a particular description. For example, I liked the video for the game planning and depth chart, so maybe a link to those videos would be nice for a new player to view as well as read the description.

Thanks for the comment, that's a good idea, I'll add those here in a little bit.

As I delve further into the game, I have more questions :)

I would like to see a list of player attributes and what they mean within the game. Some are obvious, like run blocking, pass rush, man to man coverage. Some, not so much. For example, do strength and break tackles work together? What about Strength and Arm Strength? Then there is intelligence and discipline. I really don't understand these at all. My coach thinks very highly of discipline for a QB. Why is that?

So, I would like to see a definitions section describing each attribute, if that is possible, as well as how it affects the game (in basic terms, I don't need the formulas for how the game calculates things). Like, intelligence affects a player's ability to read the play and make decisions, or discipline affects a player's penalties and maintaining his responsibilities for the play (like a blocker blocking or a DB in a zone or a receiver running a route).

It is hard to judge the correct weighting when I don't really understand an attribute :)

Thanks again!!

Thanks for saying this - you're right, I need to go through the attributes and detail them.

To answer your specific questions before I get to a more detailed description: strength is played into a player's ability to push another player while they are engaged in a block, whereas arm strength determines the velocity of a pass (which also drives how far he can throw). Intelligence weighs into a number of things, the largest among them are the ability to learn plays. There are some smaller things with intelligence like a WR extending his route past the first down marker on 3rd down if it comes close. Discipline is all about penalties.

Good question and good answer. This is nice information to know. I hadn't thought about asking but wondered about the intelligence as well. thanks to both
