Re: If you have contracts out for players does CPU still sign players itself?

Reason i am asking i got this warning from roster only 127

Your team does not have a full roster
The pre-season maximum roster count is 60 players, and the regular season maximum roster count is 53 players. Your coach will only sign players to get your roster up to 45 players.

Right now i only have 22 players
team = https://ros127.myfootballnow.com/team/22
i have 27 pending offers for players
also have pending offers for OC and DC even though so far i keep getting rejected

Because if CPU is going to sign players even when i have contracts out then i think i should withdraw those contracts because i might have more than 60 players if i am signing players and CPU is too.

thanks

No, you're resolving it yourself. Put forth your best effort.

Now, what could happen is the computer doesn't accept some of your offers and you fall short of the # (45), therefore, to fill the gap it'll sign on its own.

I have an interesting problem.
It has 93M in Dead Cap Space. I was trying to sign free agents and tried to free up some money by cutting players. I was very careful to not add to dead space and only cut players that freed up cap space. I am now under 45 players but I can't sign a free agent because it says I am over the cap. The crazy thing is the CPU did this to the roster! The CPU has been in control of this team for 6 years!!!

I would cut Juan Casady - he is a very low rated FB with a big contract. That will at least give you enough space to get low salaried players. He'll be heavy on the dead cap next year, but you can plan to deal with that when you get there. Then sign 1-year contracts with no bonus to fill out your roster (unless you find someone you want to keep).

Thanks for the suggestion and trying but I would actually lose cap by cutting him. Haha. The computer is awful at contracts!

Are you sure you want to cut this player? The player will be released from your roster at the next sim. Cutting this player will free up $3,382,973 for this year's salary cap. He will count $3,917,022 against the salary cap this year and $8,368,092 against the salary cap next year.

So what happens if even the computer can't sign players?

It will cut players until you have enough cap room, starting with the highest "save if release" value on the contracts view. The dead cap does have a limit, if it goes above a certain amount the AI will lower it so you can at least sign a minimum roster with minimum salary players.

I bolded the part that you want to pay attention to in your situation. Worry about next year when the current season is over. The fact that he'll still count against the salary cap is important, but of more importance is the amount that he'll free up in your salary cap.
