Why is this guy not progressing?

It's like he's just unable to get better.

By the weights I use, he's 69/84 and there's plenty of room to grow, he just doesn't. All my other DB's went much up much higher, much faster. This intelligent guy is just forever stuck in neutral. :(

I haven't researched this part of it but maybe because the Coaching Rating is on the lower side at Secondary.

I don't think it's that.

What I think it is would attribute to his ratings. The skills with room and the 100 maxes on them will fill out and get to the 100 area. But the other ones like tackle which have little wiggle room I believe what you see is what you get.

Therefore, ultimately the 100 max parts of his player card will hit the mark and other parts where there's not much room showing for growth will fall in that area and not advance.

Yeah that's pretty much my train of thought.

I just don't get, why he's developing so slow, compared to my CB and other safeties. He's even a boomer, he just started ultra low in "current ability".

I don't remember if I drafted him as S or CB, but he's been FS since day 1 for me.

Not sure beyond that. Maybe there's something to his not being a vol 95+ guy and thus slotted a layer under that plus his ratings being splayed out the way they are having the slowing effect.

I haven't studied rookie progression closely enough. Perhaps someone else can chime in. :)

I've recently noticed (and don't have data to back it up) but it appears player position progress is not as fast as it was even a season ago. I have several rookies and position change guys that have a gap between achieved and potential. Previously, a training camp and a few games would get them close to realizing potential - but that doesn't seem to be the case any more.

Anyone else notice this, or am I just crazy?

Can't speak to when he was changed but I typically change upon signing players:

1.5 years .. 9 year vet. Little progression.

The 9 year vet one is weird. The 3rd year FS does not look like anything out of the normal. He had about a 10 point jump through his first season, so that is actually decent progress. Some players meet there potential very quickly, others take all the way through their rookie contract. Very relatable to real life.

What makes you think he should? Not all players get better. Some boom, some bust, and some just stay where they are at.

If his future ratings are higher than his current, he should get better and meet that potential. It is the future ratings that will either go up, down, or stay the same. But his current ratings will climb until they meet with the future ones. However, every player's ratings will climb at different rates.

He's listed at Wlb so he learning that position in practice each mid week spin, but I think as a reserve he is playing alot of mlb. So he learning that position during games. He probably went up 30 to 50 points in total but it's spread out and he's played a total of 1000 snaps. His average intelligence doesn't help either . Still seems a little slow.
