The Longhorns extended their winning streak to four games with a decisive 58-6 victory over the Tigers (Mizz) on November 15. The win improves Austin’s record to 10-1 and solidifies their hold on first place in the division with a 3-1 conference record. Meanwhile, the Tigers fell to 1-10, remaining winless in the division at 0-6.

Quarterback Kirk Rose was efficient, completing 21 of 29 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns despite one interception. Rose connected early and often, throwing two touchdown passes to wide receiver Alva Santana in the first quarter alone. Santana’s 24-yard catch set the tone for the Longhorns’ offense less than a minute into the game.

Austin’s rushing attack was equally impressive, amassing 216 yards on 45 carries with three rushing touchdowns. Running back Benjamin Maple led the ground game with 83 rushing yards and added two receiving touchdowns. Timothy Vance contributed 64 rushing yards and both a rushing and receiving touchdown. Fullback Darnell Pike chipped in with 35 rushing yards and one receiving touchdown.

The Longhorns took control early, scoring five touchdowns and two field goals in the first quarter to build a commanding 31-0 lead. They continued to add points in the second quarter with Vance’s 5-yard touchdown run and two field goals from kicker Richard Brown, who was perfect on all three of his attempts.

Defensively, Austin’s unit was effective in limiting the Tigers’ offense. The Longhorns registered six sacks and forced four interceptions while allowing only six points. Defensive end Wayne Stringer accounted for two sacks, contributing to the pressure that hampered the Tigers’ passing game.

The Tigers managed 150 passing yards from William Lovell, who was intercepted four times. Their rushing attack gained only 13 yards on eight carries. The Tigers were also flagged for six penalties totaling 49 yards, which further hindered their ability to sustain drives.

Longhorns head coach Edward Bolin’s squad dominated time of possession and field position throughout the game, capitalizing on multiple turnovers and converting drives into points consistently. Despite a strong defensive effort from Mizz, the Tigers were unable to contain the balanced offensive attack delivered by Austin.

The Longhorns remain on pace for a playoff berth as they continue to lead the division, while the Tigers have been officially eliminated from postseason contention. The next game for Austin will be critical to maintain their momentum as the regular season progresses.
